Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) - Now nearly a century old, the Ohio BWC has helped employers and employees cope with workplace injuries by providing medical and compensation benefits for work-related injuries, diseases and deaths.

Their mission is to protect injured workers and employers from loss as a result of workplace accidents, and to enhance the general health and well-being of Ohioans and the Ohio economy. During the last decade, the BWC has concentrated on creating a more balanced and economically fair premium rate system for all Ohio employers. Based on statistical studies both regionally and nationally, they seem to be well on their way to achieving this goal.

Industrial Commission of Ohio (IC) - The Industrial Commission of Ohio conducts over 180,000 hearings annually and most of these hearings take place within 45 days of the original claim appeal. Their goal is to provide superior customer service as they provide a forum for appealing Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) and self-insured employer decisions.

The IC provides expeditious and impartial resolution of issues arising from workers' compensation claims, as well as through the establishment of adjudication policy. While the BWC provides the initial administrative decision regarding any claim matter, it is ultimately the Industrial Commission that typically provides the final word.

Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) – Premium Risk is proud to partner with the Council of Smaller Enterprises to provide Group Rating participation to its clients. COSE is the region’s largest small business support organization and provides cost-effective group purchasing programs, advocacy on legislative and regulatory issues, and networking and educational resources to help Northeast Ohio’s small business community.

With more than 15,000 members saving hundreds of millions of dollars a year through these purchasing programs, COSE is a driving force in advocating for the priorities of Northeast Ohio small businesses. Now 40 years old, COSE is proud to provide (thru the NE Ohio Safety Council) the largest and most comprehensive group rating program in Northeast Ohio.

Northeast Ohio Safety Council (NEOSC) - The Northeast Ohio Safety Council (NEOSC) is powered by the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) and is open to all inquiring participants (COSE members and non-members). The NEOSC meets once a month for an educational breakfast session. Each monthly meeting includes a discussion on pertinent safety issues and also provides networking opportunities for participants.

The Northeast Ohio Safety Council understands the importance of safety within the workplace and is dedicated to ensure that each meeting serves as a tool to educate members on the various ways to create and maintain a safe working environment.

Ohio State Insurance Fund Manual - Published by the BWC and updated every year, the State Fund Insurance Manual provides invaluable information pertaining to BWC program rules and requirements for Ohio employers. In addition, here is where you will find base rate and descriptions for all the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) manual classifications currently used by the Ohio BWC.
